How RSA records SMS consent

Rabbinical Seminary of America / Yeshiva Chofetz Chaim — optional informational messages for enrolled students.

Messages cover meals, classes, learning information, schedules, school announcements, reminders, events and other student-related information. There are no fundraising, advertising or promotional messages in this program. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.

1. Public web opt-in

The public consent form displays this wording beside an unchecked checkbox. The student enters their name and mobile number, optionally supplies email and student ID, confirms the number is theirs, and selects “Record my consent.” No login or SMS verification code is required.

By checking this box, I agree to receive informational text messages from Rabbinical Seminary of America / Yeshiva Chofetz Chaim regarding meals, classes, learning information, schedules, school announcements, reminders, events, and other student-related information. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. Consent is voluntary and is not a condition of enrollment, receiving services, or making a purchase.

Consent is recorded immediately, with exact wording, timestamp, source and limited request metadata. Staff review enrollment and the student's claim before activating messages. A login, roster entry or unselected checkbox is never consent.

2. In-person verbal opt-in

An authorized RSA staff member reads this exact script and records the student's affirmative answer:

Rabbinical Seminary of America would like your permission to send informational text messages to your mobile phone. Messages may include Shabbos meal attendance questions, class and learning information, schedules, Yeshiva announcements, reminders, events, and other student-related information. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. You may reply STOP at any time to opt out or HELP for assistance. Receiving text messages is optional and is not a condition of enrollment. Do you consent to receive these text messages from Rabbinical Seminary of America at this mobile number?

The save action requires the staff member to affirmatively select this box. This illustration cannot submit data and is not a real student record.

The real staff screen requires RSA staff authentication and explicit permission. It retains the staff user, script, script version, consent time and separate recording time. Approval is a separate auditable action.

3. SMS keyword opt-in

Students may subscribe by texting the keyword JOIN to the RSA General number. This call-to-action is what the student sees before texting:

Text JOIN to (845) 643-2564 to subscribe to RSA Student Informational Texts from Rabbinical Seminary of America / Yeshiva Chofetz Chaim. You will receive recurring informational text messages about meals, classes, learning information, schedules, Yeshiva announcements, reminders, events and other student-related information. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help or STOP to cancel at any time. Consent is voluntary and is not a condition of enrollment, receiving services, or making a purchase. The messaging provider recognises the keyword, unblocks the number if it had opted out, and replies once with the subscription confirmation registered for the campaign. RSA then records an immutable consent event carrying the keyword, the provider message id, the receiving number, the time and this wording version. A number that cannot be matched to exactly one enrolled student is held for staff identity confirmation before any routine message is sent. A later STOP always outranks an earlier keyword opt-in.

History, withdrawal and support

Every consent and review is retained. New opt-ins, STOP requests, withdrawals, corrections and review decisions append history. Public submissions never expose student records. Rejoining after an opt-out requires fresh affirmative consent and staff review; replying START alone does not enroll a student.

Reply STOP, STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END or QUIT to opt out. Reply HELP for assistance, or contact [email protected] / (718) 268-4700. Consent is voluntary and not a condition of enrollment.
